THE BASICS
What is a study permit extension?
Your study permit has an end date, and it may expire before your program does. An extension is a new application that asks IRCC to let you keep studying. Filed on time, it also lets you carry on studying while you wait.

You can usually keep studying under maintained status while IRCC decides.
Study permit already expired?
You may be able to restore your status if you apply within 90 days of expiry. Until it is restored you cannot study, so speak to us the same day.
Changing schools or programs?
A new school or program needs the right paperwork. We make sure your permit and your studies still match.
Program delayed or extended?
A deferred start, a co-op or a longer program can all change your dates. We recalculate the timeline and apply accordingly.
